Case Studies

The right outcome requires Clarity first.

Project Overview

This project involved the installation of an EO Mini EV charger for an Audi e-tron at a residential property with existing solar generation.

The objective was to introduce practical daily EV charging in a way that was clean, well-positioned, and aligned with how the property is actually used.

Rather than treating the charger as a simple add-on, the installation was approached as part of the home’s broader electrical foundation and evolving energy use.

Initial Foundation Position

The property already had solar installed, meaning the new charger needed to integrate appropriately with an electrical foundation that was already supporting distributed generation.

The carport layout also required careful consideration. The charger needed to be located so the charging lead could comfortably reach both vehicle parking positions, rather than favouring only one bay.

This made usability, positioning, and future flexibility important parts of the project. The property already had solar installed, meaning the new charger needed to integrate appropriately with an electrical foundation that was already supporting distributed generation.

Power Integrity Observations

Capacity

The property required sufficient circuit allocation and charging provision to support EV charging alongside existing household demand and solar generation.

Protection

The charger installation needed to be integrated with suitable circuit protection and isolation appropriate for dedicated EV charging.

Distribution

The charging point location needed to work practically within the carport layout and provide flexible access across both vehicle positions.

Condition

The existing property was already supporting solar generation, so the new work needed to be added in a way that remained orderly and well integrated.

Future Ready

The project formed part of the home’s broader move toward electrification, supporting current EV use while improving the foundation for future energy coordination.

Modernisation Approach

Riverline installed the EO Mini charger on a dedicated post positioned between the two car parking spaces within the carport.

This location allowed the charging cable to reach either vehicle position, creating a cleaner and more practical result than mounting the charger in a location that served only one side.

The charger was also configured to monitor solar production and utilise available solar energy where possible, helping reduce the amount of grid energy used for vehicle charging.

The installation was completed in a way that aligned charger placement, charging flexibility, and existing solar capability into one coherent arrangement.

Outcome

The property now has a neatly integrated EV charging point that supports modern vehicle charging without compromising usability or layout.

The central post location improves flexibility within the carport, while the charger’s ability to respond to available solar production better aligns vehicle charging with the home’s existing energy systems.

The outcome is not simply EV charger installation, but a more capable and more future-ready electrical foundation for modern residential living.
